BFI IMAX is a completely immersive film experience and has Britain’s largest cinema screen. The venue is equipped with the latest in sound and projection technology in the reception spaces as well as the auditorium
It was originally designed by Bryan Avery Architects and completed in 1999. The venue has won a number of prestigious awards at the time of opening, including a Design Council Millennium Product Award in 1999 and a Civic Trust Award in 2000.
Situated on London’s South Bank a minute away from Waterloo station, the BFI IMAX offers a unique space to host events, film premieres, awards ceremonies, product launches and conferences with expert help from our experienced events team. Easily accessible with a range of facilities, the venue is available to hire during the daytime and evenings.
Give your event the biggest possible fanfare with our 20 x 26m screen and luxury auditorium. For special guests who can’t be there, you can stream in anything via satellite to your audience here and across the world. The ground and first floor spaces are ideal for receptions, dinners, photoshoots, product launches and other functions.
The auditorium has 15 rows of seats, including ones with wheelchair access, so everyone can clearly see the screen. As well as having the biggest screen in Britain, it’s also one of the best equipped for sound and projection technology, and you can set up temporary stages in front of the screen to introduce your event.

The ground floor is a great space for a reception or dinner. We’ve hosted events here for Disney, Warner Bros, Hachette, London Business Forum and Samsung to name a few.

The first floor foyer can be adapted for launch events, dinner parties, brand presentations or receptions. Live and recorded music for parties and events can also be played.
