Crane, Birmingham B9
Crane, Birmingham B9
Crane is a large Victorian Warehouse and ancillary building, boasting modern facilities in a unique setting. The venue is located in the thriving creative hub of Digbeth in central Birmingham.
Digbeth has always attracted an unpreceded amount of industriousness and invention, from its roots as one of the original epicentres of the Industrial Revolution, to the current day revolution it is in the grips of now. Thanks to a concentration of young, independent businesses, attracted by the industrial architecture and street art, Digbeth has grown to become a characterful neighbourhood, known for its friendly people, its innovation and creativity.
The former retort house was built in 1909 on a gasworks site of 1841. As the site where coal was carbonised to produce crude gas, a retort house was the heart of a gasworks. It is a steel-framed structure clad in brick and built on a long, oblong plan.
Our 3,500 capacity licenced venue, with a raw industrial feel is the largest venue of its kind in the second city. Offering elevated ceilings, tiled flooring, iron beams, exposed brickwork and incredible feature crane that will simply take your breath away as you enter the building. Crane might be from the past, but its redesign puts it very much in the future too. Technologically advanced, visitors can expect a futuristic LED wall, CO2 cannons, 3D LED effects, pyrotechnics and a world-class sound system, alongside these events.
We don’t just hold dance music nights, our venue provides flexibility for events of any purpose. Corporate conferences, product launches, business forums, fashion shows, weddings, celebrations and so much more. Crane is a blank canvas, multi-purpose, creative space where you can let your imagination run wild!
