The listed 19th century mansion house is encircled by a multi-faceted estate – sweeping lawns, walled and secret gardens, carp-filled lakes, golf course, and woodland rustling with wild deer – all nestling in the undulating folds of the magical Ashdown Forest. Which according to the famous children’s author, A. A. Milne, is the woodland that inspired his Winnie The Pooh stories.

Richard Towneley Suite. With its vaulted ceiling and swathes of stained glass, this converted 18th century chapel creates a unique and prestigious setting for events with wow factor. The suite is made up of 6 spaces which can also be hired individually for smaller numbers.

Lady Brassey. In keeping with the history and style of the Mansion, beautifully decorated and will provide you with an outstanding setting for your day with views over the lawned courtyard.

Henry Smart. Situated near the East Wing fields overlooking the pond, it also has the added benefit of a private terrace and a small breakout area

Summerhouse. Situated on the lawns the summerhouse is the perfect setting for something a little bit out of the ordinary. The ideal space for your next outdoor meeting with shelter from the sun, the Summerhouse looks out on the back grounds and a stunning waterfall. There is a BBQ facility as well as private dining options available.

There are 10 further spaces available for events that are more intimate or can be used as syndicate rooms for larger events.

Each one of our 106 bedrooms and suites have been decorated and furnished to offer the heights of luxury and their individual characteristics have been enhanced with period pieces and furnishings. The choice of accommodation is outstanding and include our magnificent Master Suites, some of which have four-poster beds and the most beautiful views of Ashdown Forest.
